New Participation Loan Pools Launched

Gateway has launched its new participation loan pools in both St. Louis and Kansas City. Originally launched in 2014, Gateway operates two loan pools, one in St. Louis and one in Kansas City where community and regional banks with a presence in each market provide loan commitments of up to $1 million. Each loan pool requires a commitment of 5 years and a minimum participation amount. Gateway uses these commitments to fund its lending activity where each bank in the loan pool buys a participation in each new loan equal to its pro-rata share of the loan pool’s total commitment. The first loan pools, which both expired at the end of 2019, consisted of total commitments of $6.8 million and were represented by 15 banks. Gateway is aiming to reach $10 million in total commitments for its St. Louis loan pool and $2-$3 million for its Kansas City loan pool.
